‘Small Axe,’ ‘Welcome To Chechnya’ Among Final 2021 Peabody Awards Winners

The Peabody Awards ended its four days of virtual announcements crowning Steve McQueen’s “Small Axe” as its final entertainment category winner. It was joined by acclaimed documentaries “Welcome to Chechnya” and “The Cave.” Apple TV+’s “Stillwater” rounded out the last children’s and youth category winner.

Today’s announcements were presented by Cynthia Erivo, Soledad O’Brien, Ronan Farrow, Taraji P. Henson, America Ferrera, John Seigenthaler, NBA player Karl-Anthony Towns and Goldie Hawn. A highlight reel of all the announcements can be found here.

With “Ted Lasso,” “I May Destroy You” and “Unorthodox” leading the previous three days of nominations we know now what nominated programs didn’t make the cut. They include “Never Have I Ever,” “Euphoria Special: Part 1: Rue ‘Trouble Don’t Last Always” and “Gentefied” on the entertainment side as well as documentaries “All In: The Fight For Democracy,” “Athlete A” and “Disclosure.” A nominated program must receive a unanimous endorsement from all 20 Peabody Award committee members to win.
