Got a Tip?

Sony Aiming ‘21 Jump Street’ Sequel For 2014 Release

nullAfter Sony failed to make good on its promise that the “21 Jump Street” sequel would shoot last fall, we were disappointed, but never truly doubted that we would be seeing a second film. You don’t just leave critically acclaimed and commercially successful stuff like that alone nowadays. Anyway, it looks like our faith has been justified, and a sequel is still in the works.

Sony announced last night at CinemaCon that a sequel is slated for release sometime in 2014. It’s vague news, but something to keep our hopes alive. No more details about cast, director, or shoot dates were offered — although we already know that Jonah Hill and Michael Bacall reteamed for the script. And we’ve long suspected that Phil Lord and Chris Miller would return to direct after “Lego: The Piece of Resistance,” as they clarified in earlier interviews that they wouldn’t be as busy with the project as some might expect.

We would say that they should hurry up, but we know we won’t be losing our appetite for the duo of Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum anytime soon, so they might as well take their sweet time on what will hopefully be a quality sequel. Fingers crossed this won’t disappoint. [SlashFilm]
