‘Sorry, Baby’ Trailer: Eva Victor’s Acclaimed A24 Dramedy Arrives In June

How does one event shape a life? Agnes’ promising future collides with a painful reality in “Sorry, Baby.” The A24 film sees her life upended after an advisor violates her trust. Much of the film focuses on the character’s life changes in relation to the event, looking at how society sees her as much as she sees herself. ‘Sorry’ notably doesn’t follow a standard structure, instead grouping periods of time into chapters.

Writer and director Eva Victor creates an unforgettable cinematic experience. It is even more impressive considering the project is her first feature behind the camera. Her previous directorial effort, a short series titled “Eva vs. Anxiety,” appeared online through various Comedy Central outlets.

Sorry’ drew raves after premiering during the 2025 Sundance Film Festival and went on to win the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award. The Playlist’s Gregory Ellwood notes the “stellar screenwriting” on display during an emotional conversation. “It’s a humane and startling moment that demonstrates Victor’s considerable talent,” he writes of the key scene.

The upcoming drama sees Victor take on the role of Agnes. Fans of the series “Billions” will recognize the actress from her portrayal of Rian. Naomi Ackie co-stars as Agnes’ confidante Lydie, a woman balancing her own life while trying to help a friend. Lucas Hedges, John Carroll Lynch, Louis Cancelmi, and Kelly McCormack round out the cast.

The film’s official synopsis:

Something bad happened to Agnes. But life goes on… for everyone around her, at least.

A devastating moment forever changes a life in  “Sorry, Baby.” The film is set to open in select theaters June 27 via A24. Watch the trailer below.
