'Sorry To Bother You' Trailer: The Wildest Movie This Summer Doesn't Feature Capes Or Dinosaurs, Just Telemarketers

While the general public talks about summer movie season and all the superhero fights, dinosaur action, and spaceship flying, we know that the wildest film to come out this season is going to be Boots Riley’sSorry to Bother You.” Debuting right in the heart of summer, the film, which is described as comedy, fantasy, and sci-fi, is sure to turn heads with its bonkers premise and style.

In the new red band trailer for the film, we get our best look yet at what is one of the more original films to come out in 2018. The premise is fairly basic – a man, struggling financially, gets a job at a telemarketing firm. After some initial setbacks, he finds that altering his voice allows him to be successful, and he quickly moves up the corporate ladder. But yeah, that really doesn’t even begin to explain it.

We were lucky enough to see the film at this year’s Sundance, and in our review, we sum it up pretty simply, “Even if you read the official synopsis that informs you the film takes place in an alternate reality and it’s classified as ‘Sci-Fi’ and ‘Fantasy,’ you are not prepared. Even with the advantage of reading this review, you are not prepared.”

As mentioned above, “Sorry to Bother You,” is written and directed by Boots Riley. Riley is known to fans of hip-hop as a rapper and producer. However, now the artist is moving into the world of filmmaking. He’s put together a pretty incredible cast for the film, as seen in the quick glimpses throughout the trailer. Lakeith Stanfield, Tessa Thompson, Armie Hammer, Terry Crews, Steven Yeun, Omari Hardwick, Jermaine Fowler, and Danny Glover star in the film.

“Sorry to Bother You” will be in theaters July 6.

Here’s the official synopsis:

In an alternate present-day version of Oakland, telemarketer Cassius Green discovers a magical key to professional success, propelling him into a macabre universe.
