If you’re still blowing the dust off your old Arthur Russell records to give them a spin, you may be happy to hear that some of Russell’s most eclectic tunes are available to please your eardrums all over again.
The new drama “Keep The Lights On" features an all-Russell soundtrack — another posthumous release (Russell passed away from AIDS in 1992) from Audika Records — that takes advantage of Russell’s immense discography. Taking mostly from his folk, electronic, and orchestral works, the sounds set the stage for a tale of a Manhattan filmmaker named Erik who bonds with closeted lawyer Paul after they engage in a little fling. When they begin a rather dysfunctional and erratic relationship, Erik begins to struggle with his own identity and the ability to negotiate his own boundaries.
The soundtrack now available digitally, just in time for the release of Ira Sachs-directed film (which we liked a great deal) opening this weekend. You can take a peek at the track listing below, there are certainly some gems. [Prefix]
