Amy Adams and Aaron Pierre are the latest to join the previously announced Ryan Gosling, Mia Goth, and Matt Smith on “Starfighter,” in theaters on May 28, 2027. Other actors part of Lucasfilm’s announcement today include Flynn Gray, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman, and Daniel Ings. It’s unclear who Adams, Pierre, and everyone else plays in the film (save child actor Gray, who stars opposite Gosling), but expect Lucasfilm to release more details in the coming weeks.
Amy Adams, “Star Wars” actress? The actress isn’t one audiences usually associate with fare like “Starfighter,” although she was Lois Lane in Zack Snyder‘s DCEU films. As for Pierre, the actor’s breakout performance in Jeremy Saulnier‘s “Rebel Ridge” last year has made him one of Tinseltown’s buzzier up-and-coming names, so it’s no surprise that Levy casts him here. As for the other new names, expect British actors Bird and Ings in semi-comedic roles, given their respective filmographies, while Westman, also British, could be pretty much anything.
Here’s a new press statement from director Levy that’s part of Lucasfilm’s announcement about “Star Wars: Starfighter”: “I feel a profound sense of excitement and honor as we begin production on “Star Wars: Starfighter.” From the day Kathy Kennedy called me up, inviting me to develop an original adventure in this incredible “Star Wars” galaxy, this experience has been a dream come true, creatively and personally. “Star Wars” shaped my sense of what story can do, how characters and cinematic moments can live with us forever. To join this storytelling galaxy with such brilliant collaborators onscreen and off, is the thrill of a lifetime.”
Along with directing “Starfighter,” Levi also produces the film with Kennedy. Executive producers on the film include Gosling, Dan Levine, Mary McLaglen, and Josh McLaglen. Jonathan Tropper pens the script.
As noted earlier, “Star Wars: Starfighter” hits theaters on May 28, 2027. It’ll be just the second “Star Wars” film since 2019’s “The Rise Of Skywalker” after “The Mandalorian & Grogu” debut on May 22, 2026. Take a look at a new set pic from Levy’s film featuring Gosling and Gray below.
