“Janet Planet”
Written and directed by Pulitzer Prize–winning playwright Annie Baker, A24‘s “Janet Planet” beguiling mother and daughter story screened at Telluride and the New York Film Festival to much acclaim, often described as a superb debut film about intimacy and observation. “A Quiet Place: Day One”
John Krasinski’s apocalyptic thriller goes back to the start with “A Quiet Place: Day One,” essentially a prequel about how all these alien-invasion horrors began. Michael Sarnoski (“Pig“) takes over directing duties, and the film stars Lupita Nyong’o, Joseph Quinn, and Alex Wolff, with Djimon Hounsou reprising his role from “A Quiet Place Part II.”

“Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1”
Warner Bros. places a big bet on Kevin Costner’s comeback and “Yellowstone” popularity with an epic two-part Western set during the Civil War. Costner stars alongside a huge cast that includes Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, Jena Malone, Abbey Lee, Michael Rooker, Danny Huston, Luke Wilson, Isabelle Fuhrman, Will Patton, and many more.
Release Date: June 28, with ‘Chapter 2’ arriving August 16 via Warner Bros.
“Daddio”
Dakota Johnson and Sean Penn star in a provocative single-setting drama about a woman taking a cab back from the airport and the unexpected and epically long conversation she enters into with its salty, generationally older, working-class cab driver about life, relationships, sex, power dynamics, and more. “A Family Affair”
Filmmaker Richard LaGravenese (“Living Out Loud“) returns with an intriguing rom-com about a young woman (Joey King) who works as an assistant for a movie star (Zac Efron) who falls in love with her mother (Nicole Kidman) and the complications that ensue. Liza Koshy and Kathy Bates co-star.

“Tuesday”
Said to be Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ finest performance in ages, writer-director Daina O. Pusić’s A24 fairytale, which debuted at Telluride last year, centers on a mother and her teenage daughter (Lola Petticrew) who must confront Death when it arrives in the form of an astonishing talking bird.
