Colin Firth and Stanley Tucci are two of the most beloved actors working today. For decades, the two men have wowed audiences in a number of feature films, making them welcome faces in any project they work on. And in the new film, “Supernova,” audiences are in for a treat, as they star opposite each other about love in the face of a terrible illness.
As seen in the trailer for “Supernova,” Tucci and Firth play partners that have been together for 20 years. And they are currently enjoying a nomadic holiday across England, where they meet up with friends for surprise parties and dinners. However, Tucci’s character, Tusker, is facing declining health, as his young-onset dementia has begun to take a toll and he worries that this will be the last real holiday that he and his love will enjoy. And as Tusker’s health becomes more and more of an issue, the two men have to figure out how to keep their relationship going as everything else begins to unravel.
“Supernova” comes from actor-turned-filmmaker Harry Macqueen. The film marks the second feature that he’s written and directed, after his debut in 2014’s “Hinterland.”
“Supernova” just had its world premiere at this year’s San Sebastian Film Festival and is set to play at the upcoming BFI London Film Festival. An international release has yet to be announced. You can watch the full trailer below.
