The special event is set to feature Sabrina Carpenter as the very special guest, with Seth Rogen on board as an executive producer and guest star, and Maya Rudolph, newly announced, as an additional guest star.

The Season 2 finale of “Loot” left viewers hanging, as billionaire philanthropist Molly Wells (Maya Rudolph) fled a tense showdown with her fellow one-percenters — and a complicated spark with her colleague Arthur (Nat Faxon) — by boarding her private jet alongside loyal assistant Nicholas (Joel Kim Booster).

Season 3 premieres October 15. Season three will feature special guest star appearances by Stephanie Styles, Adam Scott, D’Arcy Carden, Kesha, Zane Phillips, Henry Winkler, X Mayo, Paula Pell and more.

Three weeks ago, Maya Rudolph was likely preparing to dive into production on a third season of her recently renewed Apple TV+ series, “Loot.” Oh, how times have changed. With President Joe Biden dropping out of the 2024 election, Vice President Kamala Harris is now the de facto nominee for the Democratic Party. That means Rudolph will be taking some cross-country flights to reprise her Emmy-winning impersonation of Harris on “Saturday Night Live.” The reaction to this news from many will be a “We won y’all!” (you can even hear it in Rudolph’s voice as Harris).

Season two of “Loot” has come to an end, and while we’re not sure of what Apple TV+‘s metrics for success are these days, anyone who has logged into the streamer can’t help but notice how often the comedy series is the most watched program in its top 10. That’s probably good news for the show’s creators, Alan Yang and Matt Hubbard, as well as executive producer and star Maya Rudolph.

Two years ago, following a vast array of attempts at a hit small screen vehicle for uber-talented “SNL” veteran Maya Rudolph, Apple TV+’s “Loot” hit the sitcom world, entering on new divorcée Molly Wells (Rudolph) trying to navigate and decide what to do with an enormous $87 billion settlement. Eventually, she settles on re-engaging with her charitable foundation, reconnecting with the real world, and trying to find out who she is along the way.

The premise of Apple TV+’s “Loot,” featuring multi-Emmy Award-winning star Maya Rudolph, was pretty simple. After divorcing her husband of 20 years, Molly Novak (Rudolph) became filthy rich and must figure out what to do with her $87 billion settlement. She decides to reengage with her charitable foundation and reconnect with the real world—and finds herself along the way. Of course, being totally privileged and shallow, her journey towards philanthropy is problematic, tone-deaf, and bumpy along the way, which is meant to be the comedy of it all.

“Murderville” made a splash earlier this year on Netflix, splicing a murder mystery serial premise with improvised comedic antics. Throw in guest stars like Conan O’Brien, Kumail Nanjiani, and Ken Jeong into the mix next to Will Arnett‘s clumsy senior detective, and it’s a fun time all around.

Lebanon is a country with a complicated political situation and a deep history and culture. However, it’s not a country known for its heavy metal music. Let alone heavy metal music made by women. Maybe the upcoming documentary, “Sirens,” will help change that perception.

“Sirens” follows an all-female metal band as they wrestle with friendship, sexuality, and destruction in their pursuit of becoming thrash metal stars. They’ll also have to deal with the weight of being the first and only female group to come out of Lebanon.

Comedy shows have gotten a little dark of late, with bleak scenarios or introspective sad-com direction replacing belly laughs. Even Apple TV+’s crowning jewel “Ted Lasso” leaned toward heavier material in its second season. Of course, many sitcoms still serve plenty of jokes, and “Loot” falls into the latter camp. Combining a fish-out-of-water premise with a workplace location is hardly a new conceit. However, creators Alan Yang (“Master of None,” “Little America”) and Matt Hubbard (“30 Rock,” “Forever”) have crafted a charming venture that effectively utilizes its strong ensemble to maximum impact.

Even though she has starred in a number of other projects, even a massive TV role in “Grey’s Anatomy,” Sandra Oh’s career really reached a new level with the lead in “Killing Eve.” The show earned her numerous awards and nominations, including three Primetime Emmy noms, and is clearly the biggest highlight of her career, thus far. But Oh wasn’t the only actress up for the role of Eve in BBC America’s award-winning series.

For an actress as busy as Maya Rudolph, she keeps a pretty low profile. Since her iconic turn in 2011’s “Bridesmaids,” the versatile veteran has rarely taken on a leading part. Rudolph is more likely to be recognized for her scene-stealing “Saturday Night Live” cameos or her outlandish voice work on animated comedies like “Big Mouth” than for her flesh-and-blood acting.

In yet another sign the Television Academy may need to seriously reconsider some of its categories, Claire Foy won her second Emmy Award for playing Queen Elizabeth II in “The Crown.” This win, however, came in the Guest Actress in a Drama Series category and for a less than 5 minute appearance in the fifth season of the series. A season in which another Emmy nominee from the series, Olivia Colman, will likely lose her Lead Actress category for playing the same character (although a few decades older).

It seems that every few years, there’s another filmmaker attempting to offer some form of half-hearted commentary on our society’s increased use of the digital devices that seem destined to enslave us all; from the one-two punch of 2013’s dismal “Disconnect” and “Men, Women & Children” the following year to practically every episode of “Black Mirror,” the line on the graph labeled “Quality” tends to ebb and flow with all the frequency of a neglected version of Angry Birds or any number of brightly-colored iPad apps children play that adults can’t even begin to understand.

Back in 2018, Maya Rudolph teamed up with producers Alan Yang and Matt Hubbard on the Amazon comedy series, “Forever.” The series didn’t necessarily cause a stir on Prime Video when it was released, but it did receive some solid reviews, with some calling it one of the funnier shows of the past couple of years. Now, the trio is teaming up yet again, but taking their wares to Apple.

It actually happened. The #BongHive hype paid off and “Parasite” became the first film not in the English language to win Best Picture at the Oscars, and also the first film to win both Best Picture and Best International Film (previously s Best Foreign Language Film). Beyond the historic win, lots of love, respect, and awards were shared between the nominated films, as all the Best Picture nominees (except “The Irishman”) got some awards recognition.

The Oscars are officially just 10 days away and The Academy revealed more presenters for the 2020 telecast. The biggest names are arguably Keanu Reeves, Shia Labeouf, Penélope Cruz and Sigourney Weaver. To say there should be some concern about the lack of star power for this show beyond a few of the nominees is an understatement.

Using alcohol as a type of liquid courage, I asked my editors if I could just make my “Wine Country” review consist entirely of the Tyra Banks gif where she screams, “I was rooting for you. We were all rooting for you! How dare you!?” but they rejected my proposal flat out. Apparently, it’s not great for SEO, but it is the aptest reaction to the utterly disappointing directorial debut of Amy Poehler.

Now, Poehler is venturing into unknown territory, as the director on the upcoming Netflix film “Wine Country.”
