For an actress as busy as Maya Rudolph, she keeps a pretty low profile. Since her iconic turn in 2011’s “Bridesmaids,” the versatile veteran has rarely taken on a leading part. Rudolph is more likely to be recognized for her scene-stealing “Saturday Night Live” cameos or her outlandish voice work on animated comedies like “Big Mouth” than for her flesh-and-blood acting. However, Rudolph’s next scripted project will see her smack dab in the spotlight.

In the upcoming Apple TV+ workplace comedy “Loot,” Rudolph stars as Molly Novak, an arrogant billionaire discovering her inner philanthropist. Here’s the 10-episode series’ official synopsis:
“In ‘Loot,’ billionaire Molly Novak has a dream life, complete with private jets, a sprawling mansion, and a gigayacht — anything her heart desires. But when her husband of 20 years betrays her, she spirals publicly, becoming fuel for tabloid fodder. She’s reaching rock bottom when she learns, to her surprise, that she has a charity foundation run by the no-nonsense Sofia Salinas, who pleads with Molly to stop generating bad press. With her devoted assistant Nicholas by her side, and with the help of Sofia and team — including mild-mannered accountant Arthur and her optimistic, pop-culture-loving cousin Howard — Molly embarks on a journey of self-discovery. Giving back to others might be what she needs to get back to herself.”
Aside from Rudolph, the cast features Michaela Jaé Rodriguez (“Pose”), Ron Funches (“Undateable”), Nat Faxon (“Married”), and Joel Kim Booster (“Sunnyside”).
The series was co-created by Alan Yang and Matt Hubbard, who previously collaborated with Rudolph on the critically acclaimed but mostly ignored 2018 Amazon Prime sitcom “Forever.” Hubbard has also written episodes of “30 Rock” and “Superstore,” while Yang’s other credits include “Master of None” and “Parks and Recreation.”
“Loot” is scheduled to premiere on Apple TV+ on Friday, June 24. Check out the trailer below.
