‘Tenet’ First Look Images: Here’s A Peek At What Nolan Calls His “Most Ambitious Film” To Date

Christmas is almost here, and so it’s fitting that Santa Claus has given film fans a special present — a Christopher Nolan First Look! That’s right, even though the film is technically still more than half a year away, we finally have some first look images for “Tenet.”

Not much is known about “Tenet” and, unfortunately, the images don’t do a whole lot to explain what we can expect from Nolan’s upcoming film that is officially described (via EW) as “an action epic evolving from the world of international espionage.” So, it feels quite obvious that the two images, both featuring star John David Washington, have a very James Bond-ian vibe to them, in so much that they feature well-dressed people that very well could be suave spies.

Nolan describes Washington as the “hero” of the film, but the images also give a look at co-star Robert Pattinson and a blurry Elizabeth Debicki. Again, no context is placed on the images, so at this point, there’s not much else to say. However, Nolan does do his best to finally describe what “Tenet” might be about.

“We’re jumping off from the point of view of an espionage film, but we’re going to a number of different places,” he said. “We’re crossing a few different genres in a hopefully exciting and fresh way. [Producer] Emma [Thomas] and I have put together a lot of large-scale productions, but this is certainly the biggest in terms of international reach. We shot in seven countries, all over the place, with a massive cast and huge set pieces. There’s no question, it’s the most ambitious film we’ve made.”

When discussing Washington, Nolan added, “He’s a massively talented actor and physically gifted. He’s an athlete and pretty hard for anybody to keep up with, including the different vehicles we shot him from — cars and helicopters. [Laughs] This guy moves.”

“Tenet” is expected to hit theaters on July 17, 2020. The first full trailer for the film is expected later this week. You can see both new images below.
