Got a Tip?

Arnold Schwarzengger Says New ‘Terminator’ Will Ditch “All These Rules Of The Timeline”

It would seem that James Cameron is riding out the rest of his career making movies that no one seems to have a real interest in. He’s directing fourAvatar” sequels (no thanks), and producing yet another “Terminator” rebootquel thing or whatever, that will once again see Arnold Schwarzenegger lumber around as the T-800, in what will set up a new trilogy of movies. At this point, I’d rather see a rom-com about the wacky romances of Skynet, but in case you want to know how this next “Terminator” will handle everything that’s happened in the franchise, you have your answer.

“I think [James] Cameron and Tim [Miller] came up with a concept where they can continue on with the T-800 but make a whole new movie. What they are doing now with this one is basically to just take a few very basic characters, like Linda Hamilton’s character and my character, and dismiss everything else. Just move away from all these rules of the timeline and other characters,” Schwarzenegger told Business Insider.

This isn’t a big surprise considering that Cameron has recently stated that all the movies after “Terminator 2: Judgment Day” (some of which he readily endorsed at the time) were like a “bad dream.” Frankly, this new movie is already feeling like a nightmare, but Cameron has spent his career riding against expectations and delivering, so maybe he’ll be the one laughing last.

The new “Terminator” opens on July 26, 2019.
