Well, here's a side we haven't really seen from Elijah Wood. Okay, maybe once, when he played the silent Kevin in "Sin City." Anyway, it looks like Frodo is diving in head first into the remake of the 1980 cult slasher pic "Maniac."
Penned by remake maestro Alexandre Aja ("The Hills Have Eyes," "Piranha 3D") and Grégory Levasseur, the updated story will now center on a guy who sells antique mannequins who also happens to be deranged serial killer that finds his victims on the Internet and scalps 'em. Franck Khalfoun, the guy who directed two movies you didn't see, "P2" and "Wrong Turn At Tahoe," is at the helm so our expecatations are for a good B-movie at best, though we're expecting it to be much worse.
Anyway, Wood seems to be taking to his bad boy role with relish, and as he'll be on screen as Frodo again for the next couple of years, he's getting to quick work to make sure his image is forever locked into that part. No word yet on a release date, but we presume it'll be one of the higher profile movies at genre fests next fall. Images below via Twitch.
