Over the weekend “Star Wars” actor John Boyega was chatting with “Happy Sad Confused” podcast host Josh Horowitz where the actor revealed (via Agents of Fandom) at Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo that Marvel Studios‘ Kevin Feige once asked him what characters he’d like to play and while he diden’t name who that was, he responded with a fan’s suggestion of the mutant Bishop from the “X-Men” franchise with “Oh, I’d play Bishop!”
Lucas Bishop is one of the more underrated mutant characters, as he is a time traveler and comes from the same grim future as Cable, aka Nathan Summers. He was previously played by French actor Omar Sy in “X-Men: Days of Future Past” and made a big comeback in Marvel’s recent animated series revival “X-Men ’97.”
This isn’t the first time Boyega has talked up the idea of joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Marvel Comics heroes have always been on Boyega’s wishlist as very early in his career during the press tour for Joe Cornish‘s alien invasion movie “Attack The Block” (a sequel has been in development for while) told UK outlet Flicks & The City he’d like a crack at either Blade or Black Panther, of course, this was long before those roles were filled by Mahershala Ali and the late Chadwick Boseman.
“So..I’m just going to be specific.. I would play the Black Panther in Marvel, Joss Whedon if you’re listening, make a good choice. I don’t know there’s loads, there’s Black Panther, there’s Blade, they want to do a Blade reboot. If Wesley Snipes handed the baton to me, that’d be good,” the actor once said of his dream Marvel roles.
Given that John Boyega doesn’t currently have a massive franchise contract (although, there have been rumblings about a potential “Star Wars” return as his force-senstive hero Finn), there is plenty of room for him to take on plenty of meaty superhero roles down the line and “X-Men” would be a great fit, in our humble opinion, and with the reboot on the horizon it might be a really good call to cast him in the pic.
John Boyega was asked by a fan who he would want to play in the MCU, and he said Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige asked him the same question, but he didn't have an answer.

When a fan yelled out that he should play Bishop of the X-Men, he agreed.
