'The Crooked Man': Millenium Media Taps 'Deadpool 2' Actor Jack Kesy As Hellboy For Its Upcoming Reboot

Neil Marshall‘s 2019 “Hellboy” reboot with David Harbour was an unmitigated disaster on every level. So where does the franchise go from here? Apparently, with Millennium Media‘s fast and cheap approach to filmmaking. And Millennium has their new Hellboy for their upcoming reboot, “The Crooked Man,” and no, it’s not a name like Harbour or Ron Perlman.

Instead, it’s Jack Kesy, best known for his turn as Black Tom in “Deadpool 2.” Other credits for Kesy include “12 Strong,” “The Outpost,” and “Baywatch,” and TV series like “Claws” and “The Strain.” Upcoming roles for Kesy include David Fincher‘s “The Killer,” Paramount‘s “Sheroes,” and the Lionsgate feature “Dark Web: Cicadia 3301.”

Millennium co-President Jonathan Yunger had this to say on the casting: “Jack Kesy is a dynamic actor who has the ability to morph into his roles. His talent and stature are perfect for this younger Hellboy. I was very impressed with him while working together on “The Outpost.””

Based on the comics of the same name, “The Crooked Man” sees a young Hellboy stranded in 1950s Appalachia with a rookie BPRD agent, where they discover a community haunted by a coven of witches with a troubling connection to Hellboy’s past: the titular Crooked Man. “Hellboy” creators Mike Mignola and Chris Golden pen the film’s script, adapting their 2008 comic story. Meanwhile, “Crank” director Brian Taylor directs.

“The Crooked Man” couldn’t go any worse than Marshall’s “Hellboy,” could it? Only time will tell, as the film begins shooting later this year.
