Update: Batman News has uncovered a hidden Catwoman poster on the official website. Check it out below.
Sick of "The Dark Knight Rises" and its relatively secret campaign? At least compared to say, Fox's "Prometheus," which seemingly has revealed every secret it has? (Probably not, but it sure feels that way). Well, you shouldn't be. Trust In Nolan (someone should make a T-shirt of that and give me some props).
Some new promo banners from the Warner Bros. tentpole have arrived, and yes, while they are pretty much just promo marketing banners, they're a bit more textured than the average character poster, and more importantly, they contain a dramatic weight. What makes Christoper Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises" still one of the most anticipated films of the summer, if not the most anticipated film of the summer (sorry "Prometheus," you kinda overdid it), is that something feels at stake here. The possibility of Batman dying or even sacrificing himself for Gotham seems like a very real possibility in third and final installment, and these kinds of dramatic stakes are what separate Nolans' super hero films from "The further adventures…" of so-and-so, which is generally the norm.
These banners also reveal a bit of the plot if you think about it. The Batman may be wanted for murder at the end of "The Dark Knight" and at the beginning of this new film, but clearly, the police force of Gotham are behind the caped crusader by the end of the picture when they face off against Bane and his army. Starring Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Morgan Freeman and more, "The Dark Knight Rises" is due in theaters July 20th. Additionally, keep an eye out: new footage from the film will be revealed during the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday, June 3. [Geeks Of Doom/Batman News]
