The knock has been echoing for nearly twenty years. When it comes again in the new teaser for “The Strangers – Chapter 3,” it isn’t an invitation so much as a promise: this time, someone has to stay down. Lionsgate has set the final film in its horror trilogy for theaters on February 6, 2026, and the new spot frames the movie as less of another random attack than the last, vicious movement in a long, cruel game.

Directed by Renny Harlin, the film follows the first two chapters and is framed as the endpoint of a single, extended nightmare. The movie is written by Alan R. Cohen and Alan Freedland, based on characters created by Bryan Bertino, whose original concept for “The Strangers” helped turn anonymous home-invasion terror into a modern horror staple. Here, the emphasis is on bringing that legacy to a decisive, bloody conclusion rather than spinning the mythology out indefinitely.
The official synopsis keeps things lean but pointed: in the final film of “The Strangers” trilogy, Maya (played by Madelaine Petsch) faces the masked killers one last time in a clash of survival and revenge. She’s joined by co-stars Gabriel Basso and Ema Horvath, with the new teaser positioned as a promise that this won’t just be another round of cat-and-mouse, but a confrontation that closes the loop on everything the killers have done to her.
Behind the scenes, the film is produced by Courtney Solomon, Mark Canton, Christopher Milburn, Gary Raskin, Alastair Burlingham, and Charlie Dombek. It’s billed as a Fifth Element production, in association with Stream Media and Sherborne Media, with Lionsgate handling distribution. The sell is direct and straightforward: one last visit from the Strangers, one last stand from Maya, and a February 2026 theatrical slot that gives this trilogy a clear, final destination.
