'The Thomas Crown Affair': Michael B. Jordan To Star In & Direct New Remake Of Classic Film

It’s been nearly a decade since it was first announced that Michael B. Jordan was looking to star in a remake of “The Thomas Crown Affair.” In that time, however, we haven’t heard much about the film, particularly when it comes to who might direct. Well, it appears the answer was there all along.

According to Deadline, Michael B. Jordan is not only set to star in “The Thomas Crown Affair,” he’s also going to direct the film. If it gets made, this will mark the third time a film version of “The Thomas Crown Affair” has come to the big screen. The first film stars Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway and was released in 1968. Thirty-ish years later, in 1999, Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo starred in the first remake. Now, another thirty-ish years later, and we’re getting another spin on the tale.

For those who haven’t seen the film, “The Thomas Crown Affair” tells the story of a wealthy playboy who steals art for fun. However, he gets on the radar of an insurance investigator. And wouldn’t you know it, they fall for each other.

This isn’t the first film directed by Jordan. He actually made his directorial debut with “Creed III” more than a year ago. That film was generally loved by audiences and critics and became a box office hit when it was released in 2023.

The report claims “The Thomas Crown Affair” would likely be Jordan’s next gig, after he recently wrapped a role in Ryan Coogler’s upcoming vampire movie. So, it seems as if we might be seeing this one sooner rather than later.
