'Thor 4': Chris Hemsworth Says Script Is "Insane" & Features Taika Waititi "At His Most Extreme"

Marvel Studios is expected to take the ‘Thor’ franchise into uncharted territory. Outside of its core ‘Avengers’ films, no MCU franchise has ever run for more than three films. Well, Taika Waititi is back to write and direct a fourth ‘Thor’ film. And if we are to believe the words of the God of Thunder himself, Chris Hemsworth, it appears that the upcoming “Thor: Love & Thunder” is going to be “insane” and well worth extending the franchise into four films.

Speaking on a recent episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live” (via CBM) the Marvel actor promoted his upcoming film, “Extraction,” and teased a little bit about the upcoming ‘Thor’ sequel.

“It’s one of the best scripts I’ve read in years,” said Hemsworth. “It’s Taika at his most extreme, and at his best. If the version I read is the one we get running with, it’s going to be pretty insane.”

Even though you may take Hemsworth’s comments as pure hyperbole, especially considering it’s part of his job to make fans desperate to see the new ‘Thor’ film, in a weird way, his comments line up pretty well with what Taika Waititi said in his own recent discussion about ‘Love & Thunder.’

Recently, Waititi said that he felt that ‘Love & Thunder’ makes ‘Ragnarok’ feel “very safe,” and he said that the script feels like “10-year-olds told us what should be in a movie and we said ‘yes’ to every single thing.”

Now, there’s always the option that Waititi and Hemsworth are both speaking hyperbolically, but it really does sound like perhaps we are in for a treat when ‘Love & Thunder’ hits theaters. Perhaps this film is the perfect way for Hemsworth to say goodbye to the MCU and finally make all the Marvel fans forget about the tragedy that is ‘The Dark World?’

“Thor: Love & Thunder” is expected to hit theaters on February 18, 2022.
