So far, 2016 has been the year of the disappointing sequel. With films like “Alice Through the Looking Glass,” ‘TMNT 2,’ and “Independence Day: Resurgence” failing at the box office, the future doesn’t look bright for high profile sequels. Tom Cruise is hoping to change that when “Jack Reacher: Never Go Back” is released in October. And Paramount is getting the hype going with this new promo and poster.

In the TV spot, Cruise is front and center punching, kicking, and delivering his very monotone lines as the no-nonsense Jack Reacher. Cobie Smulders is joining him this time, and if the clip is any indication, her role will be to help push the story along in between the Jack Reacher action. Fans of the original film should find plenty to like here, but there’s not really enough here to separate this movie from other action films.
