Tom Holland Responds To “Speculative” Casting Report For ‘Bond 26,’ Signals Possible Acting Break In 2027

Not too long ago, “Spider-Man” franchise star Tom Holland was listed in trade reports as a possible contender to play the next James Bond in Amazon MGM Studios‘ “Bond 26,” coming from French-Canadian director Denis Villeneuve (“Dune” franchise) and newly added screenwriter Steven Knight (“Peaky Blinders”). Well, Holland is now briefly responding to those rumblings.

Speaking with celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay on his YouTube channel to help promote his non-alcoholic beer company, Bero, Holland was asked about potentially playing the next James Bond, and as you might expect, the British actor was a bit coy with his diplomatic response and didn’t come out and say he’s indeed in talks for the part.

“Listen, there’s speculation at the moment. We’ll keep it to a minimum for now. We’ll get there one day…I mean every young British actor, it’s the pinnacle of working in our industry. I already consider myself to be the luckiest kid alive. I could not have dreamed to have the career that I have,” Holland said when directly asked about the reports of being in contention to play the new 007.

Not exactly a smoking gun either way on the James Bond casting, but it is nice he didn’t completely brush off any questions concerning the role. The two other names in the mix that had been mentioned in the report were Harris Dickinson (“The King’s Man”) and Jacob Elordi (“Frankenstein”), as suddenly, previously reported “frontrunner” Aaron Taylor-Johnson vanished from the running entirely (another reason to be a little skeptical of reports until an actor is named, officially by Amazon).

However, despite chatter of Holland taking on another huge franchise, he’s possibly looking to take more time off in the near future. In an interview for British GQ, Holland gives the impression he may be gearing up for another acting break sometime in or around 2027. This comes after Holland took a public break from acting to spend time relaxing and enjoying life outside of work.

“I feel really blessed to be at a point in my career where I can take time off, reset, and come back ready to go,” Holland told GQ of the privilege of being able to take breaks from time to time. “You can’t be in every movie, and you can’t do your best work when you’re burnt out. What I’ve learnt is that it’s important to set boundaries – to be mindful about overworking. I’ve got a slightly busy year next year, and then I’ll probably take a bit more time off in 2027. We’ll see.”

Currently, Holland has wrapped his scenes for Christopher Nolan‘s Greek epic adventure film “The Odyssey, and is reuniting with co-star Jon Bernthal as he returns to the role of The Punisher in “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” which just started production this month.

Stay tuned as things concerning “Bond 26” are coming together a little quicker than expected, which could mean we’ll finally get a real-deal recasting announcement before the end of the year. You can view that full exchange between Holland and Ramsay as they cook a delicious dish below.
