Real-life married couple Alison Brie and Dave Franco star in the new buzzed-about NEON body horror flick “Together.” We’re now learning what is next as Brie is gearing up to make her feature directorial debut with a mysterious horror comedy.
While speaking with Variety, the “Scream” franchise alumni revealed she was co-writing a horror comedy with Alice Stanley Jr., and that her hubby, Franco, is writing a thriller of his own, with the two set to produce each other’s project.
“We actually both just completed scripts that we wrote separately. Dave wrote a thriller on his own, and I have a new horror comedy script that I wrote with my friend Alice Stanley Jr.,” Brie told the outlet.
Another chat with Brie at Marie Claire revealed that the horror project, which she describes as “female-forward” and has “very fun energy,” is aiming to become her feature directorial debut. “While we were writing it, I felt like I was writing it to direct it. I could see every shot in my head,” Brie mused about her new gestating horror movie.
Brie continued, “I think women carry a lot of self-doubt, and we have a desire to make everything perfect before we attempt something, or we learn everything we can learn. You want to really check the boxes and go, Am I prepared for this? And at a certain point, you have to just take the leap and believe in yourself.”
Other projects on the horizon for Alison Brie include the Amazon MGM Studios blockbuster remake of “Masters of the Universe” from director Travis Knight, where she plays one of the villains, “The Revisionist,” and recently signed on for a new FX series pilot where she’ll play a high-end madame in the witness protection program as the show will be set in Maine.
“Together” is currently in theaters, so audiences can finally see the buzzy horror flick for themselves.
