Got a Tip?

‘Kinds Of Kindness’ Trailer: Yorgos Lanthimos & Emma Stone Reunite In New Triptych Fable Coming June 21

Filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos (“The Favourite“) is easily one of the most exciting filmmakers on the planet, and thankfully, we won’t have to wait too long for his follow-up to “Poor Things.” Searchlight Pictures, who previously distributed Lanthimos’ last two movies, has dropped a first-look trailer for “Kinds of Kindness,” which will be released on June 21.

The impressive cast assembled around Oscar-winner Emma Stone in Lanthimos’ next film “Kinds of Kindness” includes Jesse Plemons (“Civil War,” “Killers of The Flower Moon”), Willem Dafoe (“Poor Things,” “The Lighthouse”), Margaret Qualley (“Drive-Away Dolls”), Hong Chau (“The Whale,” “The Menu”), Joe Alwyn (“The Favourite”), Mamoudou Athie (“Elemental,” “Jurassic World: Dominion”), and Hunter Schafer (“Cuckoo,” “Euphoria”).

While speaking with The Guardian last year, the filmmaker referred to the pic that reunites him with Stone as “a contemporary film, set in the U.S. – three different stories, with four or five actors who play one part in each story, so they all play three different parts. It was almost like making three films. But it’s great to be working again with Emma. It makes it so much easier to have someone there who trusts you so much and who you trust so much.”

Here’s the official synopsis:

KINDS OF KINDNESS is a triptych fable, following a man without choice who tries to take control of his own life; a policeman who is alarmed that his wife who was missing-at-sea has returned and seems a different person; and a woman determined to find a specific someone with a special ability, who is destined to become a prodigious spiritual leader.

Many will be pretty curious to see if “Kinds of Kindness” can replicate the success of “The Favourite” or “Poor Things,” as they both won Oscar statues for Best Actress.

Lanthimos and Stone will continue their rewarding working relationship with a remake of the South Korean sci-fi black comedy “Save The Green Planet.” Production is said to be taking place over the summer. “Kind of Kindness” opens June 21 via Searchlight Pictures. Watch the first trailer below.
