If you live outside of Iceland, it’s likely you’re not familiar with the crime thriller series “Trapped.” The Icelandic series, which debuted in 2015, has been a huge hit for the country and has found its way in other territories over the years. However, for many reading this now, you’ll likely want to track the series down once you learn about who composed the music.
In honor of Milan Records releasing the official soundtrack of “Trapped” later this month, we are pleased to have two exclusive tracks from the release, one of which was co-written by none other than the late Jóhann Jóhannsson. The Oscar-nominated, Golden Globe-winning composer co-wrote the music for “Trapped” alongside collaborators Hildur Guðnadóttir and Rutger Hoedemaekers. Guðnadóttir is responsible for “Andries’ Theme,” while the group co-wrote the second track.
As mentioned, Jóhannsson sadly passed away in early 2018. So, the idea of having a new music release from the composer is always great news. And when you hear the two tracks from the series, you can see why the filmmaking world will never be able to find a composer quite like Jóhannsson.
For those that are interested in the series, “Trapped” tells the story of a police chief in a remote town in Iceland who must investigate a brutal murder after fisherman discover a body. The series recently released its second season in late-2018 and has been picked up for a third. And for folks with an Amazon Prime subscription, the first season is now available to stream.
