Got a Tip?

Update: ‘The Tempest’ Actually Eyeing A Fall 2010 Release Date

Some confusion seems to lie around Julie Taymor’s adaptation of “The Tempest,” which Rope of Silicon reported earlier this week as being delayed until 2010 (they’ve since updated their story too, we may have honestly extrapolated too much as well). But as with all release date bumps, or supposed ones, this worried us somewhat being fans of Taymor and this project (the cast is excellent).

But, we’ve spoken to Miramax and apparently “The Tempest” was never slated to be released in 2009. Taymor’s also working — as we all know — on “Spiderman” the musical, so ‘Tempest’ was never on the 2009 docket.

Some of the cast list was also incorrectly reported too as Jeremy Irons and Geoffrey Rush are not actually part of the film. But here’s who is part of the all-star effort.

Cast List: Helen Mirren (Prospera), Felicity Jones (Miranda), Ben Whishaw (Ariel), Djimon Honsou (Caliban), Alfred Molina (Stephano), Russell Brand (Trinculo), Tom Conti (Gonzalo), Chris Cooper (Antonio), Alan Cumming (Sebastian), David Strathairn (King Alonso), Reeve Carney (Prince Ferdinand).

What’s actually the case is “The Tempest” is eyeing a fall 2010 release date as surely with that caliber of actors it has Oscar on its mind.
