With Sony, Universal, Warner Bros., and most of the other studios taking this year’s San Diego Comic-Con off, we knew that Marvel Studios would have the center stage and an opportunity to turn the comic convention into a defacto Marvel party. And guess what? The studio did just that, with a whole slate of films and TV series getting official announcements, including the previously discussed “WandaVision,” starring MCU alums Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany.
Obviously, if you’re a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the idea of a Scarlet Witch, aka Wanda Maximoff, series with her love interest/cyborg Vision is an intriguing concept. But oh wait, there’s more to the series than just that. Today, Marvel Studios announced that “WandaVision” would take place post-“Avengers: Endgame.” That means that the series will likely show fans how Wanda (and other folks) create a new Vision. You see, the last we saw Vision, he was destroyed by Thanos in ‘Infinity War.’ So, clearly, the series will focus on that.

But the MCU is a big place and you know that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is all about adding some familiar names to these projects to pump them up just a little more. And that’s exactly what he’s done with “WandaVision.” Joining Scarlet Witch and Vision in the series is none other than Monica Rambeau. That name might ring some bells, as we’ve seen her appear in “Captain Marvel,” where the character was shown to be the young daughter of Carol Danvers bestie, Maria Rambeau. However, that film took place in 1995 and “WandaVision” is the present day. That has led Marvel Studios to hire actress Teyonah Parris, who is maybe best known for her role in Spike Lee‘s “Chi-raq,” to star as the character in “WandaVision.”

In the comics, Monica Rambeau is best known as Photon, but the hero has carried other names like Spectrum and, yes, even Captain Marvel. It’ll be interesting to see how Marvel Studios uses her in the new series.
We’ll know soon enough, as “WandaVision” will premiere on Disney+ sometime in Spring 2021. In a special bonus, Marvel revealed the series’ storyline will directly impact “Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness“ which will follow the show as a feature in theaters shortly thereafter and will also star Olsen as Wanda.
