NEON shingle Decal is behind a new survival action thriller, “Sirius,” and stars Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen (“Another Round”). It’s said the story of the new pic centers on two members of a Danish special forces team, known as Sirius Patrol, who become ensnared in an international incident while on a mission to one of the coldest and deadliest places on earth.
The news hails from The Hollywood Reporter, as “Sirius” is directed by Lee Smith, making their directorial debut, and has a script written by Tony Mosher (“Mechanic: Resurrection,” “Security”).
“Sirius” is heading to the Cannes Film Market this month with NEON handling international sales, NEON and Decal overseeing the U.S. rights.
Lee is a well-known Australian editor who has long worked with Oscar-winning director Christopher Nolan on films such as “Dunkirk” (earning an Oscar statue in 2018 for Best Achievement in Film Editing), “Interstellar,” “The Dark Knight” trilogy, and “The Prestige.” Other feature editing credits include “Better Man,” “1917,” ‘Spectre,” “X-Men: First Class,” and “Elysium.”
Mikkelsen is no stranger to action or thriller genres having played the iconic cannibal serial killer in series “Hannibal,” playing the card-shark villain Le Chiffre in “Casino Royale,” we saw him as a comic book bad buy in “Doctor Strange” trying to end the world, got his start in Nicolas Winding Refn‘s “Pusher” films and the Viking thriller “Valhalla Rising,” and also appeared in “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” as the Imperial engineer who created the weak-point in the Death Star.
Stay tuned for further information as other actors are announced for the project opposite Mikkelsen.
