Got a Tip?

Warren Beatty & Faye Dunaway Returning To Present Best Picture At The Oscars

Update: This story has been confirmed.

When it came to last year’s historic Oscar Best Picture flub (that ruined the awards for Barry Jenkins forever), Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway unfairly got most of the heat. What has largely been forgotten is that the whole envelope mixup happened because PriceWaterhouseCoopers partner Brian Cullinan was tweeting photos from backstage (read: distracted) shortly before he gave the wrong envelope to Beatty. The incident led to a handful of policy changes moving forward, including PwC accountants being forced to leave their gadgets and phones at the door on the day of the ceremony. As for Beatty and Dunaway, it looks like they’re going to get another chance to get it right.

TMZ is reporting that the pair will be back to present the Best Picture winner at the Oscars this year. Apparently, they’ll have a bit that ends with Beatty announcing, “The winner is ‘Gone with the Wind.’ ” Uh, hilarious? If you ask me, the way to have them recover some of the dignity they lost after last year’s fiasco would be to have them announce the winner without any dumb one-liners, but what would the Oscars be without groan worthy gags?

Apparently, the lines for Beatty and Dunaway are still being fine tuned, and again, this is just a rumor who knows if it’s accurate. All that said, it would be a nice touch for Beatty and Dunaway to do it right after being the unfortunate victims of circumstance last year.
