Watch: 70-Minute Comedy Actor Roundtable With Andy Samberg, William H. Macy, Jason Biggs, Tony Hale & More

THR Roundtable Andy Samberg Tony HaleThe Emmys are around the corner, which means that while the movie world is busy putting their latest summer spectacles on the big screen, the TV industry is doing their awards season jaunt. That means lots of face time with the people who make your favorite shows happen, and if you’re a fan of comedy, you’ll want to set aside some time for this.

Andy Samberg ("Brooklyn Nine-Nine"), Matt LeBlanc ("Episodes"), Jesse Tyler Ferguson ("Modern Family"), William H. Macy ("Shameless"), Jason Biggs ("Orange Is The New Black") and Tony Hale ("Veep") recently stopped by THR for an extensive, 70-minute roundtable conversation. And it’s worth a look, if only to her Macy reveal his funny story about auditioning for "Alien: Resurrection" (he didn’t get the part). The conversations also covers the state of comedy these days, overcoming typecasting and more. And even LeBlanc shares an anecdote about a particular career low point.

"I did this [baseball] movie ‘Ed.’ There was a monkey in it. He played third base. They didn’t have a monkey at the audition, so they said: ‘OK, the monkey is near death, he’s frozen, and you’re about to lose him, and you think he’s dead. This chair will be the monkey.’ I’m going, ‘I can’t believe this is what I do for a living.’ It was awful," he said. Well, things have certainly looked up since.
