Watch: Matthew McConaughey Goes To Outer Space In New Trailer For Christopher Nolan's 'Interstellar'

Interstellar

“The world doesn’t need any more engineers. We didn’t run out of planes and television sets… we ran out of food,” David Oyelowo intones in the new trailer for Christopher Nolan‘s “Interstellar.” And the answer to save humanity’s fate lies up above, in the stars.

As per usual, Christopher Nolan has been keeping as much under wraps as possible when it comes to his latest film, but this new trailer certainly opens up the door a lot more. Matthew McConaughey leads the film as an ordinary man, engineer and former pilot, sent into outer space to save everyone from certain doom. As you might expect, there is some striking imagery in here, though Nolan is still keeping the space stuff as more of a tease. And while this might seem like a big curtain lift, we’d wager that this is all first and second act stuff. Nolan always likes to keep the goods for when you see it in theaters. But here’s a little semi-spoiler (but not really if you’re even half paying attention): it’s been confirmed that Jessica Chastain plays the older version of Mackenzie Foy‘s daughter character.

Co-starring Michael Caine, Anne Hathaway, Casey Affleck, Bill Irwin, Ellen Burstyn, John Lithgow, Wes Bentley, Timothee Chalamet, Topher Grace, and Matt Damon, “Interstellar” opens on November 7th.
