This weekend, "Furious 7" took a muscle car, stacked it with dynamite, and promptly blew up April box office records. Demand was so intense that one movie theater in Queens stayed open 24/7 since Thursday night to screen the movie. Indeed, while champagne is being poured at Universal offices this morning, and thoughts are already on "Furious 8," it’s perhaps time to take another moment and remember that Paul Walker — the man who helped build the franchise — is no longer here.
Indeed, if by the end of the movie you were claiming that those tears were caused by allergies and because the explosion fest made your heart break, you weren’t alone, but now we can all collectively have a moment thanks to the video for "See You Again" from the film’s soundtrack. The Wiz Khalfia track featuring Not Sam Smith, aka Some Guy Named Charlie Puth, shows footage from the movie, but perhaps most importantly, the final scene with a CGI Paul Walker, the fork in the road, and….OMG PASS THE KLEENEX PLEASE. Meanwhile, "Furious 8" chatter is already revving up. Visiting "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" recently, Vin Diesel teased a New York City setting for the next adventure. "You know I always think of these films multiple pictures in advance. I think of them as trilogies. So Kurt Russell came in for this movie, but we really hired him because of a story that follows this that takes place in New York," the actor said. Meanwhile, Latino Review follows up on that claiming that the story will only work if Eva Mendes reprises her "2 Fast 2 Furious" and "Fast Five" role as US Customs Agent Monica Fuentes. We shall see.
