2016 will mark the twentieth anniversary of Wes Craven‘s cheeky "Scream," the franchise is still very much alive. The self-aware slasher property is now headed to the small screen, hoping to scare a new generation of teens on MTV. And the first eight minutes from the debut episode have landed online to prove to everyone how totally with it "Scream" has become with today’s young people.
The quaint thrills of Drew Barrymore talking on a landline in the original movie are replaced with Bella Thorne‘s mobile getting sexy texts that turn deadly. But don’t feel too bad for her bloody demise, because her character is a heartless cyberbully.
We’ll see if the MTV generation wants to roll with this one when it arrives on June 30th. Watch below.
