‘Watcher’ Star Maika Monroe Joining Nic Cage In Thriller ‘Longlegs’

The new horror/thriller “Longlegs” has added Maika Monroe to a cast that already includes the legendary Nicholas Cage. According to a press release from financier C2 Motion Picture Group, “Longlegs” centers on FBI Agent Lee Harker (Monroe) who finds herself investigating an “elusive” serial killer (Cage). The release notes, “As the case takes complex turns, unearthing evidence of the occult, Harker discovers a personal connection to the merciless killer and must race against time to stop him before he claims the lives of another innocent family.”

Monroe was one of the breakout stars of the seminal prestige horror film “It Follows” in 2014. She most recently starred in Chloe Okuno’s “Watcher,” which debuted at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival. Her other credits include “Honey Boy,” “Greta,” “Independence Day: Resurgence” and “Hot Summer Nights.”

An Oscar winner for his role in “Leaving Las Vegas,” Cage has recently had a career resurgence with acclaimed performances in “Pig” and the meta-comedy “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent” where he played an alternate version of himself. The “Con-Air” star will appear as Dracula in Chris McKay’s “Reinfeld” for Universal Pictures this April. Cage and his production company, Saturn Films, are also receiving producing credit on “Longlegs.”

C2 Motion Picture Group is currently in post-production on Mahalia Belo’s “The End We Start” starring Jodie Comer and Benedict Cumberbatch and Evan Katz’s “Azrael,” a high-concept action-horror film starring Samara Weaving.
