Got a Tip?

‘Watcher’ Trailer: Maika Monroe Is Being Watched In The New Thriller From Chloe Okuno

Don’t you hate that feeling of being watched? You may not even know that someone is watching you, but you can feel it. Well, that’s just the tip of the iceberg in the new film, “Watcher.”

As seen in the teaser for “Watcher,” the film follows a young woman who notices that her neighbor in the building across the street just calmly stands at his window and peers in her direction. She’s not sure why. She’s not even sure he’s looking at her, per se. But he stands there…watching. And it’s creepy as fuck.

The film stars Maika Monroe, Karl Glusman, and Burn Gorman. “Watcher” is directed by Chloe Okuno, who co-wrote the film alongside Zack Ford

“Watcher” debuted at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. In our review, we described the film as “is an initially compelling mystery that becomes more predictable as it progresses, until an ending that feels both like a cheap last-minute attempt to steer the film into a more topical direction and hard to care about.”

“Watcher” is set to arrive in select theaters on June 3. You can watch the trailer below.

Here’s the synopsis:

In WATCHER, Julia (Maika Monroe) joins her husband (Karl Glusman) when he relocates to his family’s native Romania for a new job. Having recently abandoned her acting career, she finds herself frequently alone and unoccupied. One night, people-watching from her picture window, she spots a vague figure in an adjacent building, who seems to be looking back at her. Soon after, while alone at a local movie theater, Julia’s sense of being watched intensifies, and she becomes certain she’s being followed — could it be the same unknown neighbor? Meanwhile, a serial killer known as The Spider stalks the city.
