According to Variety, Dolan is teaming up with Studiocanal and Quebecor Content for “The Night Logan Woke Up.” The series will be written and directed by Dolan and is set to begin production in March 2021 for a 2022 TV debut. The series is based on Michel Marc Bouchard’s eponymous hit theater production and will actually take the actors from the 2019 stage show and bring them to the series. And as he does quite often, Dolan will also have a role in the series. That cast includes Julie Le Breton, Magalie Lépine-Blondeau, Éric Bruneau, Patrick Hivon, and Julianne Côté.
“The Night Logan Woke Up” is a psychological thriller about a trio of friends, Logan along with brother and sister duo Mimi and Jules. Their lives are forever altered when Logan, on his 17th birthday, sexually assaults Mimi, fracturing the friendship and driving a wedge between the two families. 20 years later, after the death of Mimi’s mother, the woman comes back to her hometown and has to deal with the past traumas as she reconnects with her estranged family.

As mentioned, this is a project that Dolan has been talking about for a while now. Until now, his directing has been exclusively in the realm of feature films, with works such as “I Killed My Mother,” “Mommy,” “The Death and Life of John F. Donovan,” and his most recent film, “Matthias & Maxime.” He’s also an accomplished actor, most recently appearing in films he hasn’t directed such as “It Chapter Two,” “Bad Times at the El Royale,” and “Boy Erased.”
“The Night Logan Woke Up” will begin production next spring and is eyeing a 2022 release. We’ll keep you updated as more news is announced.
