If there’s one director who really deserves a Christmas miracle, it’s Terry Gilliam. For years upon years, the filmmaker has persistently and stubbornly continued to try and mount “The Man Who Killed Don Quixote,” and even as each iteration fell apart, he’s managed to always find collaborators to help him try and get the project to the top of the mountain. And this year, it all seemed so promising that it would actually finally happen, until producer Paolo Branco reportedly failed to make good on his many promises and the production collapsed just as it was going to shoot. Gilliam said in October that ‘Don Quixote’ was “slightly delayed,” and while there were some suggestions that it was possible it would start lensing in November, that didn’t happen. And it looks like the movie is still on the blocks.
Chatting with The Australian, the film’s currently attached star, Adam Driver, provided an update on ‘Don Quixote’ with three simple words: “It’s delayed again!”
Well, there you go. As it tends to go with ‘Don Quixote,’ things are quiet on that front at the moment, but at least Driver didn’t say he’s moved on. It seems that for now, his name is still attached, which hopefully bodes well for getting new money into the movie and giving Gilliam another shot. C’mon Santa Claus, he really needs you this year….
