So in a way, although it comes from one of the most acclaimed filmmakers of the last half-century, “Voyage Of Time: Life’s Journey,Terrence Malick’s new movie, marks a return to those days. Essentially a history of, well, everything, Malick’s documentary uses state-of-the-art visual effects and stunning photography to capture the evolution of the planet and the species on it.

The longer version of the movie just premiered in Venice a few days ago (where it got a somewhat muted response from our Jessica Kiang), but the shorter, IMAX cut narrated by Brad Pitt is set to unspool at TIFF in the next few days before a release next month, and to help get you amped up, IMAX have debuted a new four-minute featurette that sees the visual effects supervisor Dan Glass talking you through some of the stunning images captured.
