Remember when we reported that the team behind “Walk Hard: The Story of Dewey Cox” were hoping to actually tour the album?
It’s actually happening. And you get some pretty good bang for your buck: Each of Dewey’s concerts will be preceded by special screenings of the film. Not bad, right?
People are excited even those that are part of the movie.
“I have loved Cox from the beginning and I will be at every show worshipping Cox from the foot of the stage, “John C. Reilly in a cheeky press release even though he’ll be doing all the singing onstage. Reilly will be joined by his backing band The Hard Walkers. It doesn’t say who this band of merry players is, but one can presume it’s some of the ‘Walk Hard’ soundtrack musicians (unless they were busy and they had to hire ringers).
“Not since Duran Duran toured America in 1984 have people been so excited about a rock tour,” ‘Walk Hard’ writer/producer Judd Apatow gushed.
Dubbed the “Cox Across America Tour,” the 7 date jaunt kicks off December 5 in Cleveland and then wraps up two weeks later in New York on Wednesday December 19.
Consider this our RSVP right now (you better hook us up), this should be fun. Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story” OST comes out tomorrow (December 4) and you can preview two of the tracks you’ll likely hear on tour on our last sneak peak story.
Want to actually see this tour (and the movie with it?) You can RSVP and fight among the throngs of other thousands begging for freebies over at the Sony site. Of course you have to actually live in one of the seven cities where the tour is happening…
