Got a Tip?

New Images: ‘Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows’ & ‘Thor’

Stop the presses (ok, not really). Images from two new tentpoles have arrived. One from Warner Bros.’ newly titled, “Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows” and one from Marvel Films‘ “Thor.”

The ‘Game Of Shadows’ picture features Robert Downey Jr. (as Holmes) and his faithful sidekick Jude Law (as Watson) in what looks some 19th Century European absinthe tavern or brothel. While it’s perhaps an uneventful photo, the art design and aesthetics are aces when viewed in hi rez.

Next up, there are more photos from Kenneth Branagh‘s “Thor,” though considering there are two trailers out there already (three if you count the Super Bowl one), it’s doubtful these images will be much of a surprise. And it’s interesting that our audience seemingly has winced at “Thor” lead Chis Hemsworth‘s acting in the clips so far — indeed the Norse god appears to be Australian for some reason. Bigger images below.

We’re not sure what to make of this film, but maybe the humor displayed in the trailers is hinting at an “Iron Man“-like tone, but with more sci-fi fantasy aesthetics (maybe “Lord Of The Rings” meets a Marvel film won’t be so bad, if that’s indeed what we receive).

As for “Sherlock Holmes 2,” the first film was entertaining and we won’t be asking too much more from the sequel. Hopefully the Hans Zimmer score is just as good (probably our favorite element of the original film). We suppose girl-of-the-moment Noomi Rapace might add a nice touch to the film too.

“Thor” stars Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Kat Dennings, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, and many more and hits theaters May 6. “Sherlock Holmes 2” stars RDJ, Law, Rapace, Stephen Fry, Jared Harris, Eddie Marsan, Rachel McAdams and more. The film arrives on December 16. [‘Sherlock’ photo via STYD/”Thor” photo via Marvel.com]
