Got a Tip?

‘How To Train Your Dragon’ Sequel Coming In 2013

No surprises here. Jeffrey Katzenberg, CEO of DreamWorks Animation has announced that a sequel to “How To Train Your Dragon” is in the works with the studio aiming for a 2013 release.

“Dragon” scored another comeback this past weekend, landing in the #1 spot (again) adding another $15 million to its ledger, and bringing its total for the last four weeks to $178 million. This puts the domestic gross within range of “Monsters Vs. Aliens” ($198 million) and perhaps even “Kung-Fu Panda” ($215 million). Worldwide, the film is already on the heels of “Monsters” ($381 million) with an impressive $372 million gross.

The film has been a bit of surprise for DreamWorks, earning the kind of critical regard usually reserved for Pixar films and a larger than expected haul at the box office. The film, which entered an already crowded 3D field, seems to have resonated with audiences and you can expect the sequel to arrive in three dimensions as well.
