Even though “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” didn’t reach the billion-dollar milestone that the first film did, it still earned more than $859 million worldwide. That’s a pretty damn good number for a Marvel sequel nowadays. So, even though Marvel hasn’t announced it, we can assume “Black Panther 3” is in the works. But what we would never have guessed is who would slip up and confirm it early.
In a recent interview with “Today,” Denzel Washington was talking about all the projects he has coming up. He mentioned “Othello.” He said that he is talking with Steve McQueen about a film. And then he said something that surprised everyone.
“After that, Ryan Coogler’s writing a part for me in the next ‘Black Panther,’” said Washington.
That’s right, Denzel Washington is saying that he will star in the next “Black Panther” film for Marvel Studios. The fact that he said it so nonchalantly is actually pretty funny. It just goes to show you that he is definitely telling the truth about the situation.
Obviously, it’s far too early to even speculate who Washington might play in a new “Black Panther” film. We have no idea what story Coogler wants to tell. But the addition of Washington is pretty great, considering he’s one of the most iconic actors working today.
Washington is out promoting his newest film, “Gladiator II,” which is set to arrive in theaters on November 22.
