Got a Tip?

Bryan Singer Will Direct ‘Battlestar Galactica’ Reboot, Abbie Cornish Talks ‘Sucker Punch,’ ‘Law Abiding Citizen’ Posters

Bryan Singer is rumored to be in the process of bringing “Battlestar Galatica” to the silver screen for Universal. Singer was attached to a reboot early this decade before September 11 stunted his project’s progress. Since then Ron Moore has developed a critically acclaimed television remake. Wonder what the geeks will think of Singer’s possible reboot which will reportedly draw inspiration from the original series. As for us? Please don’t let this be true, and Singer, please move onto something much more original than a TV show remake, thanks. [HitFix]

Update: Variety has confirmed this is true. C’mon Singer, we expect more from you here and we’re deeply disappointed in you. “Valkyrie” while a misfire was still a step in the right direction.

“Avatar” Day will be taking place next Friday, providing attendees with an early look at 16 minutes of footage of James Cameron’s 3D epic at over 100 select IMAX locations around the world. Tickets for previews will be on a first-come-first-served basis beginning at noon PST this Monday at the source. Did we mention it was free? Expect people to go apeshit here, the Internet to break and Craigslist to light up with offers of sex in exchange for tickets. Then again, most of the dudes interested probably don’t have much to offer, but there is that small faction of geek ladies who might not be completely repulsive. [AvatarMovie]

“It operates on three levels,” Abbie Cornish explains regarding Zack Snyder’s “Sucker Punch.” “A reality, then a sub-reality where the psych ward world shifts into this strange high-roller’s brothel. Then there’s this dream world where it goes into these crazy action sequences that are totally removed from time and space.” Sounds like an easy-to-digest box-office slam dunk. [ONTD]

Jonathan Mostow has revealed that he is the process of developing a film adaptation of “Sub Mariner,” a Marvel comic book that centers on the son of a human sea captain and princess of the mythical undersea kingdom of Atlantis named Namor who possesses the super-strength and aquatic abilities of the “Homo mermanus” race. This isn’t the first time a Sub Mariner picture has been in the cards. [Collider]

Maggie Q is set to join Paul Bettany in Scott Stewart’s “Priest,” a film set in a world ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampires that follows a warrior priestess (Q) and priest (Bettany) who turn against the church to track down a murderous band of vampires. Ugh. And why does Bettany insist on playing priests or creeps these days? [ScreenDaily]

Posters for F. Gary Gray’s upcoming “Law Abiding Citizen” starring Gerard Butler and Jamie Foxx has be unveiled. The film just got bumped up to October 16 this year. [BeyondHollywood]

Denzel Washington is set to widen his scope to the small screen and executive produce “Billy Stiles,” a cop drama project from TV writer Virgil Williams with an ensemble cast that centers on the title character, a genius gang member-turned-cop. [THR]
