“Downton Abbey” has been quite the phenomenon as the British series focusing on the interpersonal relationships between the Crawley family and their estate staff has become one of the more popular modern period dramas. The popularity of the show has spawned three feature films, with “Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale” coming to theaters in September and directed by Simon Curtis (“Downton Abbey: A New Era”).
A trailer for the historical drama has made its way to us to share as the new movie, penned by show creator and screenwriter Julian Fellowes, has the Crawleys entering the 1930s, and we see these characters navigate the changing times.

The impressive cast assembled for the “Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale” includes Simon Russell Beale, Hugh Bonneville, Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter, Raquel Cassidy, Brendan Coyle, Michelle Dockery, Kevin Doyle, Michael Fox, Joanne Froggatt, Paul Giamatti, Harry Hadden-Paton, Robert James-Collier, Allen Leech, Phyllis Logan, Elizabeth McGovern, Sophie McShera, Lesley Nicol, Alessandro Nivola, Dominic West, Penelope Wilton, Arty Froushan, Joely Richardson, Paul Copley, and Douglas Reith.
An official synopsis for the pic via Universal Pictures reads:
‘Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale,’ the cinematic return of the global phenomenon, follows the Crawley family and their staff as they enter the 1930s. As the beloved cast of characters navigates how to lead Downton Abbey into the future, they must embrace change and welcome a new chapter.
Gareth Neame, Julian Fellowes, and Liz Trubridge lead the producing team of the movie alongside executive producer Nigel Marchant.
