Last summer’s shark horror movie was a fun one: “Dangerous Animals,” featuring a scenery-chewing performance by Jai Courtney and Hassie Harrison in a strong final girl role. So what’s this summer have on the menu? In a word, and title, “Chum,” starring Alice Eve.

Eve stars as a guest at a Mediterranean wedding whose vacation goes sideways when she and her friends cross paths with a fisherman who wants to feed all of them to a ravenous shark. Sounds promising enough, right?
Here’s an official synopsis for “Chum,” courtesy of IFC Films:
A dream destination wedding in Malta explodes into chaos when a bloodthirsty shark attacks and a sinister fisherman with a hidden agenda turns the celebration into a deadly trap. Forced between open water and a relentless human predator, the wedding party must fight for survival as secrets surface and loyalties shatter. As the newlyweds are pushed to their limits, they’re forced to confront the cracks in their relationship to determine who lives, who dies and who stays married.
Along with Eve, “Chum” also stars Eric Michael Cole, Elle Haymond, Sarah Siadat, Johnny Gaffney, Lisa Yaro, and Jim Klock.
Jonathan Zuck directs “Chum,” who also co-writes the film’s screenplay with Joe Leone, from a story by James Kondelik, Ryan R. Johnson, and Dick Grunert. Producers on the film include Johnson and Kurt Fethke, as well as Eve, Eamon O’Rourke, Lucas Jarach, and Luke Daniels.
