Speaking at a TIFF event (via IndieWire), David Cronenberg talked about the idea that his film work has influenced other filmmakers. Even though there are some who don’t really enjoy his work, Cronenberg is one of the most influential modern directors, especially when it comes to horror.

Nearly every review that talks about body horror brings up Cronenberg’s name. And as mentioned above, this could lead Cronenberg to being a bit annoyed that so many other filmmakers are influenced by his work. However, for Cronenberg, it’s something that he really enjoys.

“I must say there’s a lot of, and of course, some of them are filmmakers who have said that they’ve been influenced by me,” he said. “So that’s kind of interesting and it makes me feel good. That pleases me.”

Cronenberg is probably best known for films such as “The Fly,” “Crash,” and “Eastern Promises.” More recently, he’s worked on films like “Crimes of the Future” and “The Shrouds.”

Thankfully, Cronenberg has been really busy over the past few years. There was quite a big gap after the release of “Maps to the Stars.” Here’s hoping we don’t have to wait much longer for the filmmaker to work on whatever he has coming next.
