We are just about six weeks away from the debut of “Halloween Ends.” This is a film that horror fans have been waiting for a while now, as the previous two “Halloween” films from Blumhouse and filmmaker David Gordon Green have been pretty well received, making a lot of money for the studio. But even though we’re just over a month away from the film’s release, it appears “Halloween Ends” is still being tinkered with. Not even the ending has been completely locked.
Speaking to Empire, David Gordon Green talked about how far along “Halloween Ends” is in the post-production process. Obviously, this close to release, you’d hope the film would be finished, but it appears that Green is still messing around with the ending, just to make sure it’s perfect.
“It changes every day,” Green said. “In theory, the picture is locked, but this morning I called the editor and said, ‘What if we do this one thing…’”
Moreso than previous “Halloween” films, the ending for, uh, “Halloween Ends” is pretty damn important. This is the final film of the new trilogy and the final one from Blumhouse. So, there’s plenty of pressure to get it right.
“I speak with John [Carpenter] and Jamie Lee Curtis regularly about it,” the filmmaker said. “It’s exciting, uncertain, satisfying, and sad. I’ve enjoyed the ride but it’s probably time to get off. I think we’re gonna go out with a bang.”
As for what fans can expect from the ending of the third film and how it may compare to the previous two directed by Green, the filmmaker isn’t spilling the beans completely. Though, he is willing to tease a little.
“If our second film was free-for-all, violent chaos, this is a more intimate, atmospheric conclusion,” said Green.
It was recently revealed that fans won’t even have to leave the comfort of their homes to watch “Halloween Ends,” when it arrives in October. The film will debut both in theaters and on Peacock on October 14. After that, we just have to await word on when the next sequel in the never-ending “Halloween” franchise will arrive. You know it’s gotta happen, right?
