Hollywood ambassdor Tom Cruise and writer/director Christopher McQuarrie have been hellbent on giving audiences a mix of fantastical elaborate stage sets alongside scenic real locations across the globe for their “Mission: Impossible” movies and “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” won’t be much different as the studio has released a new behind-the-scenes video highlighting their shoot in Svalbard, Norway.
Svalbard is one of the most Northern places in the world inhabited by people and is extremely close to the North Pole. Making it not only one of the harshest ice-covered environments in the world, but also a place that we won’t likely see often in studio blockbusters.
In the video, you can see how cold that area is, as many folks are covered in ice/snow, and they will even incorporate a dog sled team for Hayley Atwell‘s Grace, which is still common to this day, to navigate that kind of climate without relying too heavily on gas-fueled vehicles.
“It is a privilege to bring a location like Svalbard to audiences. It’s breathtaking in every sense of the word, and we can’t wait for you to experience it in theaters,” Cruise said of filming in the beautiful and majestic Arctic location.
The rest of the impressive supporting cast of the epic spy adventure, potentially the swan song for Cruise’s Ethan Hunt, consists of Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Mariela Garriga, Henry Czerny, Holt McCallany, Janet McTeer, Nick Offerman, Hannah Waddingham, Angela Bassett, Shea Whigham, Greg Tarzan Davis, Charles Parnell, and Frederick Schmidt.
You can watch that neat video below, and Paramount is set to release “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” on May 23.
