“Circles” has completed filming, which was directed by Ariel Heller from a script co-written with Sam Baron. It has quite the elevator pitch as it sees a couple going on a retreat only to be thrust into a time loop where they end up reliving the same 24 hours over and over.
A casting update from Deadline has revealed that Ed Helms (“The Office”), Pamela Adlon (“Better Things”), and Christine Ko (“Dave,” “Only Murders In The Building”) have taken roles in the romantic drama with a sci-fi/supernatural twist.
This trio of names joins Baron (“Dead Ringers”) and Alli Brown (“Sistas,” “Succession”), who already star as the couple at the center of the plot, which seems to be taking a minor page from previous looping projects like “Groundhog Day,” “Russian Doll,” and “Palm Springs.”
There is also a synopsis, as mentioned by the outlet:
Baron and Alli Brown star as a couple in crisis who retreat to a remote cabin to repair their marriage, only to find themselves trapped in a mysterious time loop that resets every time they lie. The only way out is 24 hours of total honesty, no matter what truths are uncovered.
“‘Circles’ hooked me with its deceptively simple concept and the way it challenges how couples communicate. Ariel and Sam have created something intimate, unsettling, and darkly funny in the best way. It’s the kind of story that really lingers with you, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be on board,” Helms said in an official statement.
Filming on “Circles” took place between Idaho and Los Angeles with a producing team that features Good Point, in association with Helms’ Pacific Electric Picture Company, Kyle Smithers, David Breschel, Caleb Heller, Heller, Baron, and Brown. Helms and Adlon also exec-produced with Mike Falbo, Eric Pearson, Alexandra Canosa, Alice Seabright, and Sarah Steinberg Heller.
