While we enjoyed "Pitch Perfect," for this writer the comedic highlight wasn't Rebel Wilson or Anna Kendrick, but Elizabeth Banks (who also produced the movie, fyi). Her small role alongside John Michael Higgins as a capella commentators provided some of the biggest belly laughs, and while we wait for someone to figure out that those two should lead their own movie together, we'll be content with the fact that Banks is getting a new comedy vehicle.
The actress will star in "Walk Of Shame," the latest from writer/director Steve Brill, whose credits include "Drillbit Taylor," "Without A Paddle" and "Little Nicky." Dodgy resume aside, the concept is promising, with Banks playing an LA news anchor who goes on a partying bender after losing an audition for her dream job, and wakes up in a stranger's bed without her money, car or any memory of what happened. Her agent then calls to tell her she actually did get the job, and Banks must take the walk of shame to retrace her steps and get ready to be on air at 5 PM. Ron Burgundy would approve.
This is the kind of open-ended thing that lends itself well to cameos and improv, we'd presume, so we'll be curious to see who else signs on. And we'll find out soon enough as shooting is slated to begin in January. [Variety]
