'Eric Larue': Michael Shannon's Ensemble For His Directorial Debut Includes, Alexander Skarsgård, Tracy Letts, Judy Greer & More

Few actors have been as versatile in movie roles as Michael Shannon over the past fifteen years. From being General Zod in DC Comics blockbusters to hitman Richard Kuklinski in “The Iceman,” to memorable supporting roles in “Bug,” “The Shape Of Water,” and “Knives Out,” Shannon has incredible range. Now, he’ll test his range in the director’s seat with his directorial debut, “Eric Larue.”

And Shannon culls quite the impressive ensemble cast for his first movie as a director. Deadline reports that Judy Greer, Paul Sparks, Alison Pill, Tracy Letts, Annie Parisse, Kate Arrington, and Alexander Skarsgård all star in the upcoming film, currently in production.

Written by Brett Neveu, who adapts his play of the same name, “Eric Larue” follows the mother of a 17-yeard-old boy after he shot and killed three of his classmates. As the mother braces for a meeting with the mothers of the other boys, and a long-delayed visit to her son in prison, the story evolves into one less about violence than the lengths people go to survive (or ignore) trauma.

Recent Greer performances include the NBC limited series “The Thing About Pam,” and last year’s “Halloween Kills.” She’s also in HBO‘s upcoming “White House Plumbers.” Sparks stars in Apple TV+‘s “Physical,” while Pill is next in “Hello Tomorrow!“. Skarsgård starred in “The Northman” earlier this year, while Letts starred in HBO‘s “Winning Time” earlier this year, too. Parisse had a major role in FX On Hulu‘s “Mrs. America,” while Arrington, Shannon’s wife, also starred in “Winning Time” with Letts.

No timetable yet for when “Eric Larue” will release, but expect it out sometime next year.
